ASHLEY HOLLOW
Fern Valley Cozy Mystery Series
Good morning!
We enjoyed seeing the afternoon sunshine yesterday, although it never got above freezing, hovering around 20ºF. Mother Nature, however, has other plans! We're bracing for another 24-hour snowstorm heading our way today. We're expecting an additional 4-6 inches of accumulation on top of the inches already covering the ground.
But here's the silver lining: the forecast shows temperatures warming up in about a week or so! Of course, living in these mountains means a quick-melt event will follow, causing the creeks to rise. We'll need to keep our eyes watchful for potential flooding when that happens. It's always something, isn't it?
While we wait out the weather drama, I have some wonderful reading to share with you! Today's feature includes a free book that I know you'll love, plus three fantastic book mentions. And don't miss the delightful cozy mystery love story collection: perfect for curling up with while the snow falls outside.
Stay warm, stay safe, and happy reading!
Love,
Ashley H.
Today's Free Feature:
A Fine Kettle of Murder
She only stopped to rescue the dog. Now she's trapped with a killer.
When a stray limps across the rain-soaked highway, widowed paralegal Charlee Wade's road trip to claim her uncle's inheritance takes a deadly detour. After a vet treats the injured pup, christened Mister, a stranger recommends the Cozy Kettle B&B.
By morning, Edna, the birdwatching researcher is dead, but flooded roads trap everyone inside. Harriet is painfully shy and obsessive. Sam is haughty and sarcastic. Salesman Darren values sales, not people. The sharp-eyed stranger watches everything like a general mapping battle lines.
The sheriff calls it an accident. Charlee's years with the D.A.'s office say murder. Clues mount: Mister's torn green leash, a missing key, strange rhythms in the music room, ominous threats, and an old tin box buried in the yard.
There is dangerous history here. Secrets never stay buried, especially when the killer is sitting across the breakfast table.
As suspicion tightens, Charlee must unmask the murderer before the storm claims another victim, maybe even herself. Harmony is calling, and Mister is riding shotgun. A fresh start awaits. If she can outwit the ghosts at her heels.
